Getting organised

October 29th, 2015 | Posted in Business Organisation

Being in business means being busy and often paperwork is being kept in a mess, purely because business owners don’t have the time and/or the desire to look after this crucial step in the business. However getting organised can be achieved in 5 easy to follow steps.

  • First and foremost get an accounting program (xero, myob etc. ) that allows for easy data entry, at the very least this will encapsulate all the accounts in one place.
  • Invest in a professional bookkeeper to set up the accounts so that they are a representation of the accounts on the tax return, this step will reduce your accounting costs at the end of the year.
  • Have a clean and organized office space, a filing cabinet is a must and trays to help in paper organization, it can take an individual 4 hours to search for a document in a messy office.
  • Set aside time each week for bookkeeping, if you don’t have the time hire a professional bookkeeper to do this, some things are best left to the professionals
  • Monitor the information that is organized into the accounting system, be in the ‘know how’ so you know the scoreboard of your business.
